Author Study

It began with reading George and Martha and laughter filled the room.
Do you know who wrote this book?
It became quiet as a tranquil sky . . . 
His work is usually gently humorous. His fairy tales are full of sly humor. James Marshall author and illustrator of the "George and Martha: books, the "Fox" series, "The Cut-Ups, and "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" He was a Caldecott honor winner in 1989. He also illustrated the "Miss Nelson" and the "Stupids" series.

Marshall grew up on a large farm miles from the nearest town. As a result, he spent a good deal of his childhood alone.
